The proposal seeks unity for the general image of the campus and aims to integrate existing and new buildings within the requirements provided by the General Plan for the University of Giessen. The project is characterized by two main issues, apart from its functional distribution and rational construction: one concerns the design concept and the other the expressive image resulting from it. The concept implies the division of all the buildings into three bays of different size and function. One of these bays houses the collective spaces and personifies the vitality of the university buildings, encouraging different activities and ways of movement, and surely being their most attractive space. As for the expressive image, the project establishes a grid mechanism that defines the external appearance, insisting on a clear, bright and transparent condition. Serving as a tool for light control, this skin also emphasizes the distinctive character of the different facades through a variable depth.

La propuesta busca una imagen unitaria en la concepción del campus, capaz de integrar los edificios nuevos y existentes dentro de las prescripciones previstas en el Plan General para la Universidad de Giessen. Dos cuestiones, aparte de su distribución funcional y su construcción racional, caracterizan el proyecto: una atañe a la concepción y la otra a la imagen expresiva. La primera supone la división en tres crujías de diferente tamaño y función, siendo especialmente atractiva la que se abre a los espacios más colectivos; rica en posibilidades de actividad y de movimiento, expresión de la vitalidad de los edificios. La segunda establece un mecanismo reticular configurador de la imagen capaz de afirmar la condición clara, luminosa y transparente, a la vez que establece instrumentos de control de la luz y enfatiza el carácter diferenciador de las fachadas mediante su diferente profundidad.
